Fresh Lemonade: 20 May 2013

I hope your weekend has been whatever you needed, happy, calm, joyful, adventurous, peaceful, crazy good.  Mine has been a great time with family and preparation for my sons 9th birthday – today!  We’re keepin’ it simple this year.  We’ve made no plans!  Just a day of family, his favorite foods, and Camo Cupcakes!  The idea was originally shared (with me) by a facebook friend but I found the Camo Cupcakes recipe page through pinterest, naturally.  I also went boots and chicken coop shopping with my dad.  Shopping with my dad is usually exhausting but it was actually quite enjoyable this time!  And he really helped a lot while with my son (since he came shopping with us) while I got the things I needed for his birthday.

My daughter attended her second meeting for the missions trip she is participating in with our church youth group.  They’ll be heading to TN over the summer, she’s on the safety team and is super excited!  By the way, keep watching here, especially if you live in Columbia, SC, because we are planning to do a bake sale to help raise funds for her to pay her fees for the trip and we’d really appreciate your help baking goodies and raising the funds.  We’d really appreciate any and all help and support.

Sunday evening my husband and I attended the first meeting of our first small group with a new church.  We’ll be reading through C.S. Lewis’ Mere Christianity.  There are about 18 people in the group and they are some of the first people we will be spending much time with from church, despite our involvement in a previous “small group,” which was 75 members strong!  It was actually a  hermeneuetics class that was incredible (*any grammer nazi’s reading this?  Firstly, sorry, as reading this must be giving you heart palpitations.  I’m trying to write this as I would say it. Secondly, I have always hated saying “an” before a word that begins with  ‘h’ because it doesn’t sound natural. But it is frequently used, especially by classical writters.  Is that proper?)!

This week, I will begin planning my children’s schedule for the next homeschooling year and gathering any materials (or at least a list) needed to complete assignments and studies.  I will begin choosing an organization that I can bring hope and encouragement to through my work as a photographer and planning how to go about doing that.  If you know of a great one, get in contact with me and let me know their information and what they do.  Please keep me in your prayers as I begin this journey.  And pray for the individuals, also; that they will feel God moving in their lives to give them hope and a future.  I also will be checking out another class on creativelive.com called, Book Yourself Solid. I’m not always very comfortable “talking myself up,” so maybe I can get some pointers on promoting my business without sounding pretentious. Here’s to finding out.  Finally, I will be figuring out what, exactly, I’m going to share with you on Friday.  All topped off with celebrating my now 9 year old’s birthday!!

Well, the week is pretty much set out for me.  I hope you have all of your plans laid out, ready to go, and that you are prepared for the adventures this week has in store for you!
