The Value of Spontaneity | July 1, 2014

This weekend has been a wild, unplanned ride.  Not altogether welcomed but also not entirely regretted.

My dad, brother, and brother-in-law all came out and helped to replace the radiator in our van.  But two days later, we discovered we were gonna need to replace the water pump, too.  By the time we discovered this misfortune (as we were preparing to head out of town) it was too late to cook so we went out to eat.  I’ll not complain too much about that, though.  🙂

I happened to have my camera with me and started shooting my daughter; but I couldn’t seem to get just the image I was after.  So we asked if we could set up and do a shoot right there in the middle of Zaxby’s.  After lugging in all our gear  I got some images I was pretty proud of and even got to practice some new editing techniques on them later!

Next day, we took the van to the recommended mechanic and met his Amazing family (new friends?).  It took a lot longer than anticipated – due to manufacturer ‘error.’  I got a lot of reading done while the kids introduced themselves to the mechanic’s kids, and then grabbed my camera and took some more pictures….one which allowed me the opportunity to practice another editing technique (which I still haven’t mastered…well, it was the first time I’d ever tried it after seeing it only once)!

What one word would I use to describe my weekend?  Spontaneous.  Try putting a bit of it into your life…rather than waiting for it to force itself on you, it’s no fun then.

So, what one word would YOU use to describe your weekend?
